Toledo Preparatory Academy offers all students the opportunity to progress at an accelerated pace in specific subject areas.
The curriculum is aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards in the core subject areas of English language arts, math, science and social studies, with practices, textbooks and teaching materials selected to correspond to the standards and provide continuity from grade to grade.
Excellence in the Ohio Graduation Tests is an attainable goal for all students and writing is emphasized in all subject areas. Teachers play an active role in designing and updating curriculum.
Jump Start Program
Any student who is five (5) or more credits behind grade level is eligible to apply for Toledo Preparatory Academy's Jump Start program. This program allows qualified students the opportunity to take additional classes in an effort to accelerate graduation or graduate on time. To qualify, students must meet the minimum proficiency requirements on the Scantron Performance Series Test administered by the academy. Students must also pass all five (5) Ohio Graduation Tests (OGT) in order to graduate from TPA with a state endorsed diploma. Counseling, Admissions, Testing and Registration services are available during summer months. Online Classes/Credit Recovery Courses
Online credit recovery program provides and opportunity for students to pass courses they previously failed and get the credits they need to graduate from high school. Courses are designed for students who did not pass a course initially, but learned enough to make a complete repetition of the course unnecessary. In these courses, students can test out of the material they have already learned and focus on what they need to demonstrate achievement on essential content standards.
Free After School Tutoring
Tutoring is available for all students in core academic subject after school Monday-Thursday. Tutoring is provided by teachers certified in the subject areas and transportation is provided for all students in the after school program.
